Julie Nolan relocated to the Knoxville area from Tampa Bay, Florida in early 2021 with her husband of 21 years. She has two adult children: Amber, a percussionist and Social Worker in Tampa Bay, and Christian, who played the tuba and euphonium in high school and is now a U.S. Marine Veteran studying to be a trauma nurse. “Jules” as she is known at the School, volunteered with her children’s high school marching band, also serving as a board member. During that time she and her husband participated in numerous fundraising events, chaperoned students on tours, built and maintained performance props, and provided a wide range of support for the students.
Julie comes to the Joy of Music School after a long career in the restaurant industry. She has been a chef, a food service director at a large high school, and a general manager for restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. She joined the JoMS staff out of a desire to help children receive a quality music education. After witnessing firsthand what a quality music education can do for youth, she was eager to support the JoMS mission and help young people grow into their best selves through music.
